Real Progress
Background
The club currently operates with a functional "footprint" of over 100 acres. It owns 19 acres of land outright and leases 49 acres as a buffer zone from Island Timberlands. This land is leased on 30 day cancellation terms and has been a souce of concern for the Club members for many years as Nanaimo develops and expands southward, and as the property changed hands with various owners. If the owner were to choose to cancel our Lease with the 30 days notice, Club activities would be seriously impacted and its survival put in jeopardy.
The Solution
To eliminate the potential risk and remain masters of our own fate, it was decided to purchase the remaining land in our "footprint". Negotiations were successful and a deal was struck with Island Timberlands, for the purchase of 82.3 acres net of standing timber for $255,000, plus land transfer taxes and legal fees.
The Benefits
The purchase of this additional land will enable the Club to continue as a viable Association and to continue with all of our conservation and wildlife enhancement projects as well as operating our public ranges and firearms training facilities, recreational shooting and competitions.

Land Purchase Update
