2010 Annual Banquet and Fundraiser

Our Annual Banquet & Fundraiser was held on February 13th and as usual, it was a sellout and an overwhelming success. Everybody enjoyed themselves and were extremely generous when it came to supporting our club.
Special thanks have to go to Bob & Deri Morris who once again headed up the fundraising committee and put in untold hours getting things ready to go. George Denton did a bang up job as our new Banquet Chairperson and thanks to Greg Stephens, our outgoing Banquet Chairperson, for the years that he's put in doingthat job.
Thanks also to all the local merchants and individuals who generously donated to our fundraiser and I ask all our members to remember these merchants when you're out spending your hard earned money. Let them know that you're supporting them because they supported us. The whole night was the culmination of hundreds of volunteer hours. From the  kitchen staff, the setup staff, fundraising committee, to those who sold tickets and ran
prizes at the banquet, a sincere thank you goes out to each and everyone of you.
Respectfully Submitted, David Parenteau

Turkey Shoot 2009

Congratualtions AL BROWN and his crew for organizing and presenting another fantastic Turkey Shoot.2009_turkey_shoot_031.jpg

The Turkey Wheel and Dice table were hot and the crowd reaction to a winner at the TRAP Annie Oakley was spontaneous and loud.  The Silhouette shooters were a study in concentration sighting in at the 100  yd. Rams with their open sighted rifles, while the Archers enjoyed a beautiful crisp trek through the woods. The board sellers are to be congratulated for their hard work, and the shooters, scorers, phoners all worked diligently to keep it all done before closing time. The Bake sale and crafts tables were beautifylly laid out, and Lynn was busilly signing up Memberships

Thanks to Larry M. for obtaining the signs directing people to the Turkey Trailer. Eye poppers to be sure !  And thanks to the Traffic gang for keeping the traffic moving smoothly, while the Turkey handlers kept the Prizes flowing.  I think The most gratifying sight of all was the group of youngsters with the Club .22s shooting their silhouettes.   A good time was had by all.

Well done everyone !

After several attempts in past matches Bob Ball earned his Grand Slam Pin in Hunter rifle at the Provincial Match.  He joins a very small select group of individuals province-wide who have achieved this by hitting ten targets at all four distances and animal targets that are shot in rifle silhouette. Brett Williams, of Ladysmith, was the first Nanaimo Fish and Game Club member to earn his Grand Slam Award in Standard Rifle in October ,2007 and Bob is the fifth person on Vancouver Island to earn this coveted award.Congratulations to both Brett and Bob.
